I am about to buy my first used car. I’m not sure where to start – what do you suggest?
Louise
Answer:
Hi Louise:
I understand where you are coming from – buying a used car for the first time is overwhelming. Got 5 minutes? Do your research (online, in-person), talk to people you trust, shop around. Once you get the basics, I can give you some pointers and options on how to finance the car. Email me to make an appointment for an online or in-person chat. Remember don’t make a move too fast without all the facts!
Planning a Trip?
Question:
I am planning a trip to Thailand after I graduate, does my MemberCard ATM card work there?
Les
Answer:
Hi Les:
Thailand is great – the great sites and tastes of the country await! Your MemberCard works in Thailand – just remember that your account may not include those type of International ATM transactions as part of your service charge FREE transactions. You may be charge $3.00 per transaction, so use your card wisely and track your expenses. Don’t forget – security while using your card is paramount, protect your PIN at all times, try and use ATMs that are associated with banks, hotels etc...
Before you go, come and see me for more detailed information on your account, travellers cheques, currency and insurance. While you are away I am always available by email.
See you before you go, send photos!
Got Debt?
Question:
I have got myself into a financial funk – I am in debt and don’t know where to start paying it off. I managed to rack up a HUGE cell phone bill. I feel bad, what can I do? Oh! And I am only in high school....
Eva
Answer:
Hi Eva:
Being in debt isn’t fun, but stop worrying about it and let us help you make a plan to start paying back your debt.
Send me an email or come in after school and I’ll help you set up a PAYBACK schedule and coach you as to how to explain that schedule to those you owe. Don’t let your debt follow you as you graduate.
I look forward to your email or call.
Want to Start Your Own Business?
Question:
Hi there - I am interested in starting my own business. Do you have any advice as to where I can look online for some reliable information on entrepreneurship? Once I get through that I would like to know more about the financial side of starting up a business, any advice?
Chelsey
Answer:
Hi Chelsey:
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (www.cybf.ca) provides some great information on starting up your own business, go to their Business Resource Section and they will walk you through the ins and outs of starting your own business.
Once you have read through that, come on by any branch and ask to see a Member Service Representative to point you in the right direction. It’s that easy and all FREE!
Got Some Unexpected Cash?
Question:
I just came into some extra cash from my grandparents and want to start saving for school and possibly a car – any advice?
Josh
Answer:
Hi Josh:
Wow, getting $ gifts are great! You’re wise to think of the future with that new cash. Depending on how much you have to invest, there are several savings accounts and investment options available to you. These choices are all a little different and need some explaining. Give me a shout and we can sit down and figure out what might be best for you at this time and will pay off in the future.
Do it now – so you don’t get tempted and then spend the money on something that really won’t pay big dividends in the long run.
