Student Status?
According to the BC Government, here is the definition for full-time student status,
“Enrollment in at least 60 per cent of a full course load (40 per cent for students with permanent disabilities) for at least 12 consecutive weeks at a designated post-secondary school The program of study must lead toward a certificate, diploma or degree. Courses can be taken by correspondence if the student's principal occupation is the full-time pursuit of that program of study."
SASCU Scholarships & Bursaries
Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union scholarships were established to recognize students from the credit union membership for their academic, extracurricular and community contributions.
Each year the Credit Union Foundation of BC provides grants to public colleges and universities throughout British Columbia for disbursement. The bursaries are available to BC residents attending accredited post-secondary schools within the province. Programs of study may be vocational, technical or academic.
Scholarship Awards
A total of $28,000 is available for scholarships for the academic year. Scholarships are awarded in amounts of $2,000 to 14 deserving students in the categories mentioned below.
Okanagan College – Salmon Arm Campus – six scholarships available
Salmon Arm Secondary – six scholarships available for academic achievement or technical program
Eagle River Secondary – Sicamous – two scholarships available for academic achievement or technical program
Scholarships will be awarded on the following basis:
- Academic achievement
- Community involvement
- Student must be a member of Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union
- Student must be enrolled full-time in an accredited post-secondary learning institution
- The scholarship must be claimed by the beginning of the second college/university year after presentation, unless exceptional circumstances prevent enrollment. If the scholarship is not claimed bythe 2nd year and there are no exceptional circumstances, the funds will no longer be available as awarded.

Application Procedure & Timelines - School District #83
- Applications are available from your School Counsellor at your academic institution.
- Applications need to be completed in full and returned to the School Counsellor by a determined date.
- Applications will then be reviewed by a Selection Committee.
- Scholarships will be awarded at Graduation Ceremonies in that application year.
Deadline for applications - yearly at the end of May.
Scholarship Funding
Scholarships will be made available at the discretion of the Board of Directors annually. All scholarships are funded by the Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

Credit Union Foundation of British Columbia Education Bursaries
The Credit Union Foundation of British Columbia is the provincial wide philanthropic organization of the credit union system founded and funded by British Columbia credit union members.
Purpose
The Foundation’s primary purpose is to provide education awards to British Columbia resident post-secondary students in need of financial assistance for academic, technological or vocational training at accredited schools within the province. Awards are also given to mature students upgrading their basic education and skills to allow them to enter the work force.
Each year the Credit Union Foundation of BC provides grants to public colleges and universities throughout British Columbia for disbursement. Students need check with their school’s calendar for descriptions of the awards or consult with their Awards Office regarding eligibility.
